WILLIAM KIRCHER – Producer

William Kircher began a career in the screen production industry in 1976.

After graduating from the New Zealand Drama School, he completed a three-year apprenticeship in Professional Theatre. This was the grounding for a long and successful film & television career that saw William holding a reputation as one of the most well respected actors in the country.

This behind-the-scenes knowledge of the industry gave him a solid platform from which to cross to the other side of the camera, and in 1996 William shifted his focus toward production. He became involved in business development, then subsequently producing and executive management.

In 1997 William was engaged as a Producer by UK production company Cloud 9 Screen to develop television projects for New Zealand audiences.

He was invited to head up Cloud 9’s corporate & commercial division in 1998. This role saw William produce ‘Choice’, an award-winning short film, as well as a range of other projects. He became a senior member of the Cloud 9 executive with responsibility for managing public relations, political relationships, and corporate communications.

William played a key role in seeing Cloud 9 achieve a prominent national profile and this culminated in 2000 with the company winning the Dominion Gold Award for Business Excellence.

His four years with Cloud 9 saw William directly involved with the corporate side of screen production.

In 2001 William was contracted by an international software distribution company to manage commercialization of ‘G’Toyz’ a new animated children’s television/internet brand. Under William’s guidance the project was introduced to Sony Family Entertainment Group. Sony became involved in the development of the project and it was eventually sold to private interests.

His broad experience of the screen production industry has given William a healthy blend of creativity, leadership, and business acumen.
